Event: Urology Department Anniversary Course
Clinical Lead: Dr. Wilson Pereyra
Overview
In conjunction with the urology department anniversary course at Edgardo Rebagliati National Hospital in Lima, a live case was performed to demonstrate the clinical utility of advanced ureteroscopic technology. The case was supported by our local distributor, Arimedical, and highlighted the capabilities of our suction-integrated ureteroscopes in managing challenging renal stone presentations.
Stone Characteristics
• Size: 15 mm
• Location: Lower calyx (complex anatomy)
Procedure
Dr. Wilson Pereyra performed the procedure using our ureteroscope with integrated suction. The combination of direct visualization and efficient suction enabled consistent intrarenal pressure control and effective stone clearance in a lower pole location, which often presents technical challenges in terms of scope maneuverability and fragment evacuation.

Outcome
The procedure was completed successfully, with complete stone fragmentation and removal achieved in a single session. No intraoperative complications were reported.
Clinical Relevance
Lower calyx stones ≥10 mm are traditionally considered more difficult to treat due to challenging access and the risk of residual fragments. The use of a suction-capable ureteroscope in this case helped optimize visualization and extract fragments efficiently, supporting the potential for improved stone-free rates in complex anatomies.
Conclusion
This live case at Edgardo Rebagliati National Hospital reinforced the value of combining clinical expertise with purpose-designed technology. We extend our gratitude to Dr. Wilson Pereyra for his skillful demonstration and to Arimedical for their continued partnership in advancing urological care in Peru.
