[Topic] Application of 4K technology in laparoscopic surgery
Advantages of 4K laparoscopy in weight loss and colorectal surgery
Laparoscopic surgery with 4K laparoscopy is featured with 3 major clinical advantages, including fine identification, precise protection, and risk reduction. Surgical images obtained with 4K resolution allow the surgeon to finely identify small tissues and structures such as fascial layers, small blood vessels, nerve branches, lymphatic tissues, etc. This helps the surgeon to better protect important nerves and blood vessel branches during the operation; thereby reducing intraoperative bleeding and complications.
In gastric surgery, 4K laparoscopy can improve the recognition of the fusion of gastric mesangium and transverse colonic mesangium. The branch of the superior anterior pancreaticoduodenal vein located behind the right gastro-omental vein and on the surface of the pancreas is acceptable, allowing the surgeon to make clearer identification and prediction. The use of 4K laparoscope can fully identify and protect the vagus nerve branch on the surface of the common hepatic artery. Therefore, this technology helps the surgeons better identify tissues and improve the prognosis of surgery.
In colorectal surgery, 4K laparoscopy can more clearly show the boundary line between the membrane with the characteristics of "yellow-white junction". It is easier for surgeons to identify structures such as mesentery colon, Toldts space, Gerotas space, and pancreaticoduodenal fascia. It can better complete the complete mesangial resection while protecting important anatomical structures such as the pancreaticoduodenal, reproductive vessels, and ureters, reducing the risk of surgery, and improving the safety of surgery and radical oncology. Easily damaged nerve structures, such as the upper and lower abdominal nerve plexus, hypogastric nerve, pelvic nerve plexus and neurovascular bundle, etc., can be displayed more clearly during the dissection process under the 4K visual field, so it helps to more accurately protect these nerves during the operation.
Scivita Medical developed 4K Ultra HD Laparoscopy System is further powered by features such as smoke removal, blood vessel enhancement, wide dynamic range, dark area correction, exposure correction, and special light. Its unique smoke removal function can reduce the influence of smoke by processing the image within the range affected by the smoke, thereby maintaining normal surgical observation and improving the efficiency and safety of the operation. The blood vessel enhancement function makes the microvascular structure between different anatomical levels clearer, so that the surgeon can clearly identify the direction of the microvessels on the membrane surface and improve the safety of the operation.
